Introduction
My name is Susan Mutua Brown. I recently graduated from the University of Central Florida MSN program in the Nursing Management and Leadership Track. I entered the nursing career from the ground level as a Certified Nurses' Assistant (CNA) in 1992 and since then, I have continued to advance in the profession. My CNA role was followed by a Licensed Practical Nurse role, and later on a Registered Nurse role. During my nursing career path and development, I have worked in pediatric home health, critical care in cardiology and multi-system units, and in nursing management in Long Term Care and Short-Term rehab units.
The nursing career goes through various milestones as one grows in the profession. My ultimate experience in this career path has been centrally focused on positive patient outcomes, through provision of excellent care, maintaining, restoring and improving patient health and satisfaction. As an Advanced Practice Nurse and Leader, staying involved and focused on the advancing healthcare model is very important. My main goals and objectives will be centered on the delivery of excellent evidence based nursing practice through positive team building, employee education, engagement, motivation, and effective communication. In addition, consultation and collaboration with other appropriate healthcare personnel and administration are part of the leadership skills that are vital in yielding positive outcomes and achieving shared goals.
